Youth Mentors Needed!

What is Eaglevision's Mentoring Program

Come Help Steer the Future of Today’s Youth!
Eaglevision Ministries, Inc. is seeking individuals to mentor a youth participant involved in Eaglevision’s Youth Career Development (YCD) Program.  The YCD program is an educational and career development program for youth ages 17-21 years old needing to complete high school or obtain a GED and are low income or otherwise at-risk.  The purpose of the program is to enhance the employability of the youth participants by teaching them career readiness skills and addressing a wide array of other needs that the youth may have.

The goal of the Mentoring Program is to link an at-risk youth participant with someone who can serve as a friend and provide positive role modeling for this individual.

The mentor role includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Taking the lead role in a one-on-one relationship.
  • Serving as a positive role model and friend.
  • Building a relationship with a youth participant by engaging them in positive activities.
  • Encouraging positive self-regard, motivation and empowerment.
  • Helping the youth participant set goals and work toward accomplishing them.
  • Communicating with the youth participant weekly, either in person or over the phone, and meeting face-to-face at least twice a month.

The youth participants include males and females who are from various racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.  Therefore, it is helpful for potential mentors to possess effective communication skills, flexibility, and cultural awareness.  The potential mentor must also be at least 24 years old, must undergo a background check, and submit a resume and two references.
